Same run as yesterday but about 1:30 faster per mile, still not fast enough.  I think today is the day I admit to you and myself that a PR is not going to happen in Boston.  I don't have a great excuse, training has been pretty good, I'm not really feeling bad, my hamstring has been a problem but I'm not sure that's the entire problem.  So I think I'm going to change my goal and just try to enjoy the experience more, maybe I'll shoot for a PR this Summer or fall but for some reason I just haven't gotten myself to the point where I can maintain 6:20 pace for 2:45.  I've definitely been more cautious this time around, I used to just go out and run every run at 6:30 pace, that worked for a while but eventually got to me.  So I'm not sure what the perfect combination is for me but for now I'm just going to be happy that I'm in pretty good shape, and for the most part can still enjoy running.

I listened to Depeche Modes new album on my run this morning, pretty good but there is a song on it called "Slow"  The lyrics go "Slow... Slow.... Slow as you can goooo"  Worst Tempo run song ever..

It's hard for me to analyze what kind of shape you are in right now but honestly I can say that if I do Boston again I want to do it more for fun. It is a cool experience and I think you can fairly comfortably run a decent time (2:54-2:59?) and have a good time doing it. Then you can get your 2:45 in the fall or even at UVM. Just enjoy Boston and run it at a pace comfortable enough to remember it.

I think it is important that you "for the most part can still enjoy running." When I start to not really enjoy it anymore it makes me lose motivation and wonder what the point is. If I have the opportunity to run Boston one day I will follow your lead and look to enjoy the race. Plus, I predict you will destroy Big Cottonwood Canyon in the fall. Depending on how Ogden goes for me and my summer training, maybe we can run that one together and I won't slow you down too much!

Thanks guys, I'm really not that shaken up about it, I vowed never to run a marathon again after 2011 St. George anyway. It wouldn't matter at all if I wasn't addicted to this dumb blog.

Yeah James, lets rock Big Cottonwood.

I vowed to never run a marathon ever again after SGM in 2011 too......I've ran 4 since then. Stupid blog!
