Very good nostalgic run today, I was determined to make it out to at least Crissy field once this trip.  There is a little lookout point at 5 miles that I like to run out to and just look at the Golden Gate bridge and watch the boats for a bit.  Today is my last day with iBAHN, it's been a really fun job, I've traveled the world, ran in amazing places and made a lot of great friends, but as I've been talking to my kids this week I realize it is time for me to get off the road and spend more time with them before I mis their entire childhood.

This is my favorite place to run I think, I've probably ran it more times than any run in Utah,  I pretty much give credit to learning to run while here at this same conference I think 5 years ago.  Before then jogged, I came to San Francisco for 3 weeks and when I got back I realized somewhere along the way I learned to acutally run.

Nice nostalgic moment...that is one of the great things about running. Congrats on the new direction in your life and finding the balance that you need and desire.

Rob, are you still running the Big Cottonwood Canyon Marathon? If so, we should talk and see if we can run it together. I would love someone to run with.

Honestly I'm in pretty bad shape still. I'm not sure a full marathon is a good idea at all. I've actually thought about just doing a planned DNF and running the canyon and just skipping the last 12 miles. But at this point I'm not even sure I can run a 7:00 pace.

Congratulations and good luck on the big change Rob.

I think you're doing the right thing. Not too many people lie on their death bed and think "I should have spent more time traveling for my job and away from my family".

Thanks Rob, I never really thought of myself laying on a death bed. I always pictured myself going down in a firey plane crash.

Either way I'm sure my kids will appreciate me being at their soccer game next week. Assuming the plane I'm about to get on doesn't ........

You ever see that movie "Secondhand Lions" with Robert DuVall and Michael Caine? Two 90 year old guys who died trying to fly their vintage WWI plane upside down through their barn.

That's the way to go!

Well, I tried. The pilot wouldn't go for it.

Glad you made it to the games :)

Funny, but I remember first seeing your blog when you were running in a park in SF that I just fell in love with. Maybe I'll have to figure out how to run on a trip there sometime soon.

I know at least one person that will miss you traveling the world!
