Yes, I've been a slacker.  Started my new job last Friday, was sick all weekend from getting a Flu shot so I've been a bit pre-occupied.  Went on a ride with my new/old co-workers up Southfork.

How cool is this?

I'm sick of being injured and out of shape.  There was some girl at the gym I couldn't help but watch, she has the best running form, she just looks so effortless, I want to run like that again.

Woke up feeling really good this morning so I decided to take advantage of it and hit the treadmill.  My glute never did hurt the entire run which is amazing, my heel is still bugging me but it was barable.  Pretty happy to get a decent run in and feel good.  Maybe, just maybe someday I will be a runner again.

Look at me go, running two days in a row, about the same as yesterday, felt pretty good, no glute pain but my foot still nags.  That's pretty much been the story, I've had PF in my foot since before Boston which is agonizing pain most the time but sometimes I can fight through that, but when I pulled my Glute muscle at Big Horn that one is pretty much the show stopper, when it's acting up running is out of the question.  It seems to be on the mend though and if I just start my pace slow and work up it doesn't really bother me at all.  I've been wearing the dumb PF boot to bed at nights for about a month now and it seems to be helping.  So all and all things are coming around.  I'm really bummed that tomorrow is Big Cottonwood, that was meant to be my big PR race, it would be fun if fast people would go run it and see how much faster it is than St. George, this year they even took out the hill on Wasatch so it really would be a wicked fast course.

Up Southfork canyon with co-workers.  It rained just enough to gunk up my bike. 

We saw a baby moose at the pond just before Vivian park,  some idiot thought it was a good idea to walk right up to it and get it's photograph, can't imagine mama moose was too far away.

Very pleased with my run today, I knew last night that today was going to be a good day to run, my foot was pretty much pain free, the PF night shoe seems to be working.  8 continuous miles, I'm very out of shape and at least 20 lbs over weight but I'm coming around, I'm shooting for consistant running again in about 4 more weeks.

Once when I was riding up American Fork Canyon a Mt. Biker came up and told me "you have a really FUN cadence"  I said thanks but didn't really know what that meant, I mentioned it to my friends and now they always make fun of me and say, Rob, less fun please.  Anyway, my Garmin came with a cadence monitor but I never hooked it up, last night I dug out the box and installed it to see how fun my cadence really is.  I asked my friend what his was and he said he likes to keep it around 85rpm and 70-75 going up hill.  Well, I average about 110 on flat, and 95-100 going up hill according to my Garmin today.  And 0 going down hill.  Average cadence for my total ride today was 91.  So I guess I do in fact have a FUN cadence.

Had to take advantage of an absolutely perfect morning to run outside, 6 miles along the Murdock trail, full moon light and perfect temperature made it really nice.  I probably still need to stick to treadmill though, any incline hurts really bad still, flat and downhill are just fine so I did a bit of walking back up to my house.

I attempted to run outside but it turned into a nice long walk.  I'm not sure what was wrong with me today I didn't realy hurt all that bad I just couldn't get myself to keep running.  I gave myself 2 miles out of the 5 but I'm not even sure I got a full 2 of actual running in.

I'm not sure why there is such a drastic difference between the treadmill and the road but one I can do the other I can't, at least I'm sort of running again.  I even got down to a 7:30 pace for the last mile of my run today so pretty good improvement.  As long as I'm running on flat surface my glute/hamstring doesn't hurt at all but the slightest incline really pulls at it.

10 minute warmup on the elliptical followed by 6 miles in 49:30 on the treadmill.

1 mile warmup on the elliptical, 6 miles in 47 minutes on the treadmill.  It feels really good to be running again but I need to be careful and not get over excited, I'm still injured and I have a really bad habit of just pushing through pain until I become completely incapacitated.
