Lifetime is a jetlags best friend.  I was wide awake at 2:00am forced myself to lay in bed until 3:00 with about 1 million things going through my head and finally just gave up and went to the gym with the idea of clearing my mind.  Plan on the drive to the gym was to just run 20 miles easy, but as I always do I got carried away and kept progressing and ended up doing mile 13 - 17 at 6:15 pace, decided I was pretty worn out after that and just ran a slow recovery mile and went and did some stretching and rolling out.

18 miles in 2:07:00

I had a chat with my wife yesterday about social media.  She is totally against it and thinks it's the root of all things evil.  I don't totally agree but there is a lot of negativity on Facebook and Twitter.  I was thinking about it and realized how much I like Fastrunningblog, it's nice that it has, for the most part a very positive feel around it, and a very positive theme.  It's really quite amazing that this site was around long before any of those other sites, and that it has such a loyal fan base.

Thanks Sasha!!

Oh! one other thing I was thinking about.  If I can manage to stay injury free, and figure out how to stop eating so much junk so I can loose 20lbs I think 2013 is going to be a very good year for me.   By the way, I'm feeling very good today, despite only sleeping 4 hours.

Great run, here is looking to a strong 2013!

I agree that Facebook is a weird and addictive phenomenon and that FRB is a good group of folks.

Despite always having been a fan of social media and the internet, I was a bit hesitant to start posting my workouts online. But joining this site was one of the best things I've ever done not only for my own running, but I've also made a lot of really, really good friends because of it. FRB is a gem.

That's a good run to kickoff the week!

I think twitter is the really odd one. Facebook is nice for families and friends to keep in touch and see whats going on. I went through Facebook and did a mass cleansing a while ago and tried to limit it to people I have actually met before :) and people I felt comfortable knowing when I'm not at home.

I'm effectively on holiday until the first of the year so I plan on getting in a few big mile weeks.

Jake, I'm glad you post your workouts, I'm going to start following them exactly and then watch out.

Jeff, if you ever feel the desire to come down and run one of the epic Saturday runs all these guys have started putting together I have plenty of room at my house, you are welcome to stay anytime. I know you like staying at the Murphys but do they have a hottub? I'm going to try and make the run this Saturday.
