A little bit out of it today, I started out thinking it would just be an elliptical sort of day but then after 20 minutes I got bored and went down to the track, 31 laps for a total of 5 miles.  The last 4 laps were a little bit faster cause I thought someone was going to pass me.  They didn't.

Have you noticed that unless you can run a 2:30/2:50W marathon no one visits your blog anymore.  Seems like the blog has changed, I know my perspective of the blog has changed since I started but I thought that was just me.

Haha. Interesting note in your last paragraph. I still visit your blog frequently.

Yeah, I still visit peoples blogs too. I was just noticing that most people have Quantcast stat's as 'Not Available. Not sure why, just an observation.

Hi Rob. Long time reader and infrequent commentator. I agree with you in large part. I first started participating in this blog frequently in September 2012 so I don't have your history but it was four months before I got a comment (thanks in large part to racing). Clearly as my times improved I got more attention.

I wonder how much quantcast has to do with it. I remember aspiring to get 10 viewers in the count and then they stopped counting anyone with fewer than 100 views. That bothered me.

My other two thoughts. The active blog participants obviously change over time. Right now, it's really Jake and Allie driving a lot of the comments and then various one off cliques. Without more of these types of people driving traffic, the blog probably loses some of its community feel. I wonder how that has changed over time.

Finally, there is of course a component of you get what you give. If you are active, others reciprocate. I think injuries/inactivity tend to hurt interest and you've definitely struggled with that a bit this year. Since there are two main "Rob" guys, I often shadow over the hyperlink thinking "Oh is Rohde back?"

:), I've done my share of pissing people off so I understand why people would boycott me. I just feel bad for all you nice guys out there.

I actually tried to quit the blog a while back but it just didn't work out for me. It works like my personal little diary and just posting something whether people read it or not keeps me motivated to keep trying.

I know that both Jake and allie do a great job of reaching out to everyone and making them feel special so I really didn't want to bash on anyone here. It's obviously more interesting to read fast peoples blogs than slow people.

What if a woman on the blog ran 2:30? That would blow up the whole system!

You should tell Andrea to test it out.

I can't quit you

This is the first diary I've ever regularly maintained so I also find a lot of utility without the comments/views aspect. Final final thought. The faster runners are generally speaking very consistent (you know when they blog generally and its usually daily) and striving toward a goal. That's a more interesting story than "logged another run."

From Rob on Mon, Dec 16, 2013 at 09:49:39 from 63.235.131.194

I totally get it, I don't think it's just that people that run fast get more attention, They also post more frequently so their name shows up more.

I've been around a while, but still a newby in the grand scheme of the blog. When I started it was Burt, RivertonPaul, and allie that dominated the blog. allie obviously won that battle and ran those other two yahoo's outa here.

It's my first Diary too, I never thought I would enjoy writing a diary so much.
