1 hour on the elliptical followed by 30 minutes of light weights.

Apparently it doesn't matter how fast or slow you run down a really steep hill for 26 miles, it still hurts the next day.

I've decided I want to get back in shape and go back to where I left off, I want to set some PR's.  I'm kind of bored with jogging around everywhere, I just need to somehow be smarter this go around and not get myself hurt again.  I don't think it's going to happen this week though, I can barely walk up stairs.

A smart move to not shoot for the moon THIS week.

Sometimes I think running downhill fast is actually easier on your legs that running a moderate or slower pace. When you are holding back and braking, the eccentric muscle damage ends up being greater.

So you'd probably be less sore if you just went for the win on Saturday!

Oh! Now you tell me :)

I'm really curious to know if I could have run a 2:46 if a win was on the line. I am about 15 lbs overweight so that may have been pushing it. One interesting tidbit though, the guy who won sat behind me on the bus, his goal was to run with me for the first few miles and then just try and break 3 hours. His PR was 2:54 before this.

Well, pick a marathon to race and find out! :-)

Oh yeah, you have Boston, forgot about that for about 10 seconds, just long enough to make a dumb post

Don't do any spontaneous treadmill marathons...

Well I'm obviously faster than you then. I've made dumb posts way faster than that.

Yeah, Boston is probably a good goal, maybe stick to 1/2's until then, maybe a 2:48 treadmill marathon just for fun.

Ah, you beat me to it Kam :)
