I'm not sure why there is such a drastic difference between the treadmill and the road but one I can do the other I can't, at least I'm sort of running again. I even got down to a 7:30 pace for the last mile of my run today so pretty good improvement. As long as I'm running on flat surface my glute/hamstring doesn't hurt at all but the slightest incline really pulls at it.
10 minute warmup on the elliptical followed by 6 miles in 49:30 on the treadmill.
