Felt a little bit better this morning than I have this week.  Good news I'm getting out of the cold and smog for 2 weeks, bad news it's in Vegas.  Worst running city in the world, and the Palazzo gym doesn't open until like 7 or 8, to late either way to get in before work.  So starting Sunday it's going to be endless 2.5 miles loops around the Wynn Golf course for me :(

Here is a question that is probably dumb, and I've probably read it but I don't know the answer so I'm putting it out there.  12 weeks out from the marathon, when I'm running at "marathon pace" should that be my current marathon pace based on effort and HR or do I run it at my goal marathon pace?  HR for marathon pace based on calculations I made in much better shape are 151bpm - 168bpm.  Currently my goal MP of < 6:20 puts me around 172bpm, which I still think something is wrong with me and that will go down. but way, way to high never the less.

Hmmm, that is a question I can't answer. I wish I was smart enough or experienced enough to know, but I don't. I would guess your current MP with the lower HR, then slowly work into your goal MP and hope that by the end of the cycle it is there WITH the lower HR.

Rob, I am glad that you found me on here. I have tried to track you down a few times since the Big Cottonwood Marathon. I wanted to thank you for running with me. I would love to chat with you some time about the Ogden Marathon if you would be willing. Maybe we could even go out for a run some time?

Yeah that would be great. Not sure I'm a good Ogden Marathon advisor. I didn't enjoy that one ;)

You're just leaving one kind of "smog" for another. Ha ha. Sorry I can't answer your question I don't pay attention to my HR.

Rob - outside of the heart rate issue I would say goal marathon pace should be the effort (you are running that pace at a much shorter distance).

Runmehappy - I have run the Odgen Marathon twice (2:59 and 2:55)and will be running it again this year. I would have no problem sharing some "wisdom".

Carina, then how do you know if your running fast or not?

There was a period where Vegas tried to go Family oriented. That lasted about 1 year.
